Powerlifting is a strength sport consisting of three events: the bench press, the squat, and the deadlift.
Powerlifting resembles the sport of weightlifting (which is actually a test of power as opposed to powerlifting which is a test of ‘limit strength’). Each competitor is allowed three attempts on each lift. The lifter’s best valid attempt on each lift counts toward his competition total. The highest total wins.
