How to cook Bringhe (Filipino Version of Paella)

Bringhe is the Filipino version of paella. It is yellow rice, colored by turmeric, with pork and chicken cooked in coconut milk and ginger.

Ingredients

  1. Rice
  2. Coconut Milk
  3. Garlic
  4. Ginger
  5. Turmeric
  6. Onions
  7. Chicken Breast
  8. Pork Shoulder
  9. Salt
  10. Pepper

Procedure

  • Step 1: Peel and slice the ginger. Peel and dice the onion. Chop the garlic. Set aside.
  • Step 2: Slice the chicken breast and pork shoulder into chunks.  Season with salt and pepper. Saute in oil in a pan. Set aside.
  • step 3: In the inner bowl of a rice cooker, saute the onion, garlic and ginger.  Add the rice and crack. Add more oil. Add turmeric.
  • step 4: Prepare the coconut milk. Whisk the powdered coconut milk with water. Add it to the rice. Add salt and pepper.
  • step 5: When the rice boils, you can add the meats.
  • step 6: Put back the bowl in the rice cooker. Put on the lid and wait until it’s cooked.
  • step 7: Plate and serve.
