In his 25 years of professional singing, what Pinoy rockstar Arnel Pineda learned from Jonathan Cain of Journey.
“Singing is a talent; it’s a gift you are born with. I’ve never really done or found out about preparation until I met these guys from Journey.
So for the past 25 years of singing professionally here in the Philippines and abroad, I could say that my singing was still “raw” until I met Jonathan Cain and told me there’s a scientific way to prepare yourself and to be able to last that long and sound that good, for such time like 2 hours or more than that – the whole duration of a concert.”
Arnel Pineda’s tip on proper singing:
“You need proper vocalization and proper breathing. When you sing, even if it’s rock and the rocker’s voice is rough, your voice shouldn’t come from your throat – it must be from your diaphragm. Your throat and your larynx only support the control of the voice coming from your body.”
Arnel Pineda shares why he has endurance on stage:
“Endurance is important, especially for me because I run a lot and I jump a lot. You really have to exercise, or meditate. Do a lot of yoga or stretching, so your muscles are ready for the pressure you’re going to exert when you’re on stage.”
