Beat matching is a disc jockey technique of pitch shifting a track to match its tempo to that of the currently playing track.
Equipments
Headphone
Laptop with DJ software
DJ media controller
Procedures
1. Count 32 beats from the playing track. (DJ music standard is composed of 32 beats before every new element in the music takes place) After the 32 beats, the transition for the next track will take place.
2. Mix the two tracks together by matching the beats per minute or BPM of the tracks. Using the pitch slider of the DJ media controller, adjust the speed of the new track to match the playing track. You can use the headphone or the visuals in the laptop as your guide.
3. Once the BPMs of the two tracks are matched, drop down the volume of the 1st track and raise the volume of the 2 track. Do this simultaneously.
